Blue and Gold

Last night was our Blue and Gold Banquet. I think that everything went off as well as could be expected. A lot of hard wrok from many people went into this event and I am truly grateful for everyones help. I can't mention everyone, but I do want to thank Tuck, Aimee and Gerald for helping with the setup on Friday night. also to Scott and Cathy for everything they do, and without Diane, service Saturday night would not have been as good as it was.

I also wanted to say thank you again to our friends from Angel EMS and the Catoosa County Sherrif's Department for being our special guest and chili judges. I hope ya'll were able to make it through the night after tasting 12 different bowls of chili. Also as a side note. I got a phone call from Pastor Joe about 9pm Saturday night. He was calling to make sure everything went ok and to make sure there wasn't any trouble. Someone had sent Richie a message saying that there was an ambulance at the Church with the lights on and they got a little concerned. After I explained that they were there at our request and they were letting the kids explore the ambulance, everyone took a breath of relief. Too funny.

The Cub Cars look incredible. I can't wait for everyone to see them on race day. We will work to get more signatures on the Armed Forces car before then.

I was completely blown away with the gift from the Pack. I don't need gifts for doing what I do for the boys. I would do it anyway, but I do appreciate and love the work of art. It is now my Facebook profile image. I will treasure it always. I am blessed to have such a great Pack family. I do love and appreciate everyone.

Thank you again. Pinewood Derby and Rain gutter Regatta(Weather Permitting) next weekend. We will have Pinewood Derby rain or shine at 1pm.

Giving

We're making our first trip out to the Extreme Makeover Home Edition site today. Abby will be 1 of 8 or so Girl Scouts there giving out GS cookies.I think that it's so amazing that so many local people are giving their time and talents to make the Sharrock family a home that suits their special needs.

I think that this example of giving is something that I would like for all of our boys to have. We will be planning trips to the Chattanooga Rescue Mission and possibly to the Community Kitchen in the near future. We need to educate our Scouts about some of the challenges people right here in our community face on a daily basis. It will open their eyes and help them focus on important things like halping your neighbor, giving back and help them become good citizens. Our children are our future. We need to make sure we expose them to real life, and not always shelter them from the "ugly" side of things.

I care about each of our boys and their families like they are my own. I wouldn"t be a part of this pack if I didn't.

Be sure to pray every day for those that you love, don't forget about those that suffer from life's circumstances and always remember the men and women that risk their lives daily to defend our freedoms.

Scout Sunday

I want to say thank you to all the scout families that took time out of their Sunday to join us for Scout Sunday. Our pack is nothing but a name without the boys and their families and I am truly blessed to have such a great Pack family. We, as a Pack, are blessed to have such a supportive Church behind us. I really feel like there are great things in store for our boys.

I tend to get emotional and sometimes and a little scatter brained in front of a big crowd, and I failed to mention some key things. Like, what day and time we meet, but Richie bailed me out on that one. However, the biggest regret I have about my performance was that I failed to mention what great parents and leaders we have. For that I am truly sorry.

While this was my Ryan's last Scout Sunday, it will not be my last. I have been trying to find a new Cubmaster behind the scenes for the last several months. I was feeling overwhelmed and thought it was time for me to find someone that could provide a better run Pack. That all changed over Christmas break when I realized that I am being called to put more of myself into the Pack and quit looking to find a way out. Sometimes it's a real eye opener when you let your heart take control of your thought process.

Jeanne and I had talked about needing to get our family in Church for several years, but never acted on it. We would occasionally go to special services like Easter and Mother's day, but that was the extend of our Chruch life. That was until we recieved an invitation to Friend Day. The postcard invitation had a hand written note from Pastor Joe saying that he would really like to see us there. We attended Friend Day on October 31, 2010 and that was the first step in what has been a whril wind adventure. I have not missed a Sunday Worship Service since that day, and I really do look forward to Sunday. As those of you that were at Scout Sunday saw, I have joined the Choir and enjoy participating in that ministry. Mark and Abby have started Awana on Wednesday nights and as a result of the first Awana meeting, Mark acepted Jesus as his Savior. Abby and Mark were both Baptized on January 23, 2011 and Jeanne and I joined the Church on January 30, 2011. I am in awe at the blessings we have recieved. I am renewed as a person. I have not felt this alive in quite a long time.

If you do not attend Church on a regular basis, I highly reccomend you do. It's one thing to know that you have given your life to Christ in the past and to believe that you are saved, but it's a whole other thing to know that and to let God use you and lead you to be the person He wants you to be. If you haven't given you life to Christ and asked Him to forgive you of your sins, just remember this: As long as you are alive, It's never too late. There is hope.

I look forward to see what's in store for us.
